  • ...it's beginning to look a lot like...

...people are turning their attention towards the Christmas holiday season again! It seems to come around so quickly every year, as soon as Summer fades into Autumn, it's upon us... ...whether you love it, or hate it, it can't be denied, it's always full of colour and music, presents, parties and entertainment with friends and family and above all...scrumptious food. And though we all do love the food(most of us), lets be honest, so much of it just has far too much of the sugary stuff in it and even if it tastes great to the senses, we know so well it 'aint doing us much good health wise. ...and you might agree one doesn't need a degree in dietary or nutritional science to see it for yourself... We're not nutrition or dietary experts here at Trinity Chiropractic & Physiotherapy Centre but we do encourage our patients to follow sensible eating habits, even at Christmas!! ...so without being too Grinchy or Scroogey about it, if we were to pass on any health tips for the coming season, try your best to keep the sugar intake to the minimum and give yourself a worthy present that will last you a lifetime!!!

  • You can't beat a good stretch!

Hi All, I was speaking to some of the practitioners today here at Trinity and they gave me some tips on “Stretching” after you've had a treatment. (Now in case you don't know what stretching is, it's basically a physical exercise that requires you to put a body part like an arm or a leg in a certain position that will lengthen it, stretch it or elongate muscle or muscle group in the leg or arm or shoulder, which will then help to enhance the flexibility and the elasticity of the limb and loosen up the muscles therein.) One of them actually made a very good analogy in saying that “Stretching” after you've had a treatment whether it's physio or chiropractic is the equivalent of putting hair conditioner in your hair after shampooing it. So if you've just had a chiropractic or physio treatment here and it all went well etc, later when you are at home that evening you could just use stretching techniques and they would can actually it help to relax your muscles and can actually increase the blood flow in the affected areas, which obviously helps the body’s healing processes. It even encourages the release of endorphins and I can provide a sense of tranquillity. Stretching directly before bed can even give you a more comfortable sleeping experience. For more detailed information on this, do you remember to ask one of our practitioners after you've had your treatment. Best of luck Alan

  • Summertime physical-health Tips from Trinity Chiropractic, Dublin's Best Chiropractor.

Here comes the summer!!! Finally here after what has been a long cold winter and spring! It's great to see big blue skies and feel some warm sunshine on our faces again. And even better, it's expected to be around for a while too, so happy days!! Whether you're going to hit the beach, swim in the sea, hike the countryside, climb those mountains or get out on the lake, it's a time to get into the fresh air and be even more active with our family and friends. As one of Dublin's Go-To Natural Health Clinics, we at Trinity wanted to pass on some Natural Health Summer Tips to help you avoid any physical mishaps or pitfalls in your activities. A lot of these are basically reminders to us all of simple common sense, but some are actually based on personal experiences, hopefully they can be of some use. Here comes the summer! Bring it on! Tip #1 - Avoid Dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids particularly in warm weather, skip the sugary ones ie Fizzy drinks and Fruit juices, they contain a lot of sugars and don't benefit your body at all and actually contribute to dehydration. Drink water of course, but add some Electrolytes to your drink to give you the vital Minerals and Trace Minerals your body needs. Dehydration Symptoms: Dark coloured urine. Headache. Fatigue. Dry mouth. Constipation. (sources: Dr. Berg Nutritionist, Epicurious.com) Tip #2 - Sunshine benefits. Apart from the obvious fact that sunshine puts us all in a good mood, and helps everything to look brighter and more beautiful, it provides a wide variety of physical health benefits. Of course it goes without saying, we should always avoid sunburn etc but once sensible precautions are taken, we should take full advantage of it while it's there. Benefits: Helps increase bone strength. Creates vitamin D (a huge factor in the immune system). Helps improve sleep. Improves metabolism. Helps lower blood pressure. (sources: Dr Ken D Berry, Dr Berg Nutritionist) Tip #3 - Exercise and Stretching. Physical exercise as you already know, is another activity of enormous benefit to our health both physically and mentally. But whether it's a big walk in the countryside, a hardcore hike up the mountains, or a long distance swim in the ocean, it's important to loosen things up and stretch it out a little before you get going! So don't forget to stretch your limbs for a few minutes BEFORE you start out. Just GOOGLE for some simple Stretching Techniques. Benefits: Improves circulation. Increases extroversion. Improves mental well being. Improves digestion. Improves metabolism. Hope you liked our very first TrinityChiroPhysio Blog, we hope to have many more over the coming months.
